Write journalistically in English and Spanish with an emphasis on developing and writing news stories. Study information gathering and interviewing techniques, career opportunities in Spanish bilingual media, particularly newspapers, and the early history and evolution of Spanish-language newspapers in the United States. The course is taught in English, but the student should have some command of conversational Spanish, as well as basic Spanish writing skills.
Survey of Latin American history from independence in the 19th century to the present. Addresses regional differences and similarities in culture, race relations, nation building, and economic development.
Intermediate-high language skills. Participation in discussions on a variety of topics. Comprehension of adapted and authentic written and spoken texts. Development of paragraphs and short written texts for a variety of purposes.

This beginning creative nonfiction writing course introduces students to the fundamentals of memoir writing, literary nonfiction, and personal essay, while cultivating creative and critical thinking skills through the examination of diverse authors, and preparing students for intermediate creative nonfiction writing, especially those students considering a major or minor in creative writing.
Focuses on patient interactions, management, image acquisition, quality assurance, positioning/procedures, and pathology specific to mammography. This course meets the 16 hours of structured education required by the ARRT and 40 hours of structured education required by the CDPH-RHB.
